Today's activities are more than just bingo! The Activity Department at the Jewish Health and Rehabilitation Center seeks to provide residents with a wide range of recreational opportunities offered in a variety of settings: one-to-one, small group or large group. From the traditional activity programming such as bingo and crafts to the current focus on inter-generational interactions and pet therapy, the Activity Department's goal is to offer a comprehensive program designed to meet the individual resident's needs and interests. This comprehensive program provides opportunities for the intellectual, physical and spiritual enhancement of the resident. Program offered may include trivia, current events discussions, reminiscing, Resident Council, bowling, exercise and religious services for both Jewish and non-Jewish residents. Of course, the Activity Department seeks to enhance the resident's social needs as well by planning a variety of special events including musical entertainment and theme days such as a Hat Day Parade. In addition, residents are encouraged to remain connected to the world through community outings, venturing on trips to area restaurants, the Malls, the State Fair and Chief's baseball games.
At the Oaks, residents enjoy participating in a wide variety of social activities including exercise classes, presentations by guest speakers, professional entertainment by local performers, numerous outings to the theater, restaurants, shopping centers, scenic attractions, and much more. The two Social Coordinators on staff provide a comprehensive recreation program to meet the needs of each resident. From discussion groups to festive parties, cooking classes to day trips, there is something to fit the lifestyle of every senior.
The social program at The Inn provides our residents with a range of cultural events, social opportunities and education. This program enhances independence, promotes well being and stimulates laughter. From traditional activities such as bingo, bridge and discussion of current events to shopping, luncheons and dancing, our Resident Council is a part of the social planning process. Religious services are offered through the Jewish Health and Rehabilitation Center for Jewish, Catholic and Protestant faiths. Happy hour is a great time to meet new people and enjoy big band music. The Inn has a Family & Friend Fun Night in January, March, May, July, September and November. The social program at The Inn encompasses intellectual, spiritual and social opportunities for all!

The Auxiliary at Menorah Park (formerly the Auxiliary of the Jewish Home of CNY) was inspired by the kindness and spirit of a handful of volunteers who assisted in the care of loved ones at the original site of the Jewish Home on Irving Avenue.
These few energetic and caring people created what was to ultimately become the Auxiliary at Menorah Park. Our membership today is over a 1000 strong, with a Board of Directors to oversee the many projects and activities of the Auxiliary.
The Auxiliary is a group of dedicated fundraising volunteers with the principle objective of enhancing the lives and dignity of the Menorah Park residents. Our ongoing activities include maintaining the unisex beauty salon, providing birthday gifts, funding for bingo and flowers for the holidays.
In addition, the Auxiliary sponsors major gifts each year. They have included renovation of the lobby, an electric sliding door for the main entry, an air conditioned wheelchair accessible bus and our unisex beauty salon, chairs for the dining room, and physical therapy equipment. Most recently we have allocated money for the Alzheimer's unit, synagogue and items for the activities department.
Our volunteers, sponsor Sunday Party entertainment and serve family brunches. We started a Friendly Visit Program where volunteers serve refreshments and visit with residents in their rooms or on the floors on Sunday afternoons.
Our funds are generated from membership dues, the annual ball, Remembrance fund, Sunday Party fund and flower fund. All money raised is directly used to benefit the residents.
The Auxiliary is an integral part of Menorah Park. Our board members are ultimately responsible for the continued existence of the Menorah Park campus. It is our commitment to the goal of providing "health care with dignity" which makes the facility a true home for the elderly of the community. We live and enhance the words of the prophets: "Do not cast us away in our old age."
